✦ Anastasia was born in a small French village, to a woman named Eloise who worked as a Hunter for the church - her Father is a nameless angel, who had 'blessed' the woman to have his child. In doing so, he decreed that Eloise would raise the girl to become a Hunter and deal with demons as the church decrees.

✦ Due to her heritage, Anastasia was born a nephilim - something only mentioned in myths and rumours. However, she was able to pass as a winged human, due to the lack of angelic qualities. It's only in dangerous situations that she lets her angelic blood come to the forefront, letting her become an angel as seen in stories.

✦ Under the tutelage of her mother Eloise, Anastasia learned a number of ways to fight and handle her abilities - as well as a trade to act as a public front. The only time Father appeared during this time was to 'bless' Anastasia with her weapon, Rosarium, which would allow her to attack those considered unholy by their God. Once she was 18, she finally became a Hunter of the church and was sent out to hunt demons as appointed by her superiors and messages sent by Father - something she did happily, feeling as though what she's doing is right.

✦ One day, through self-flogging over being unable to track her targets and starvation from not eating while so focused on her tasks, Anastasia ended up collapsing. She was taken in by a small village within the French alpines - the residents being demons that she was tasked with hunting. For the first few days, too stunned by their aid and unwilling to face anything that went against her teachings, Anastasia lashed out and staunchly refused their help.

✦ After some time passed, a demon named Arterius eventually confronted Anastasia over her attitude and beliefs, resulting in a fierce argument that ended up with the nephilim crumbling under her despair and guilt, when she realised those she killed before may have been completely innocent. From there, she put herself together and decided to do her best to atone for what she had done, now throwing herself into helping around the village as much as possible. Days turned into weeks turned into months, and it's around this time that feelings start to grow between Arterius and Anastasia.

✦ But after running errands outside the village, Anastasia comes back to carnage - and another nephilim that had decided to finish what Anastasia was supposed to have started. Despaired over how there's others like her killing innocent people, and outraged over how those under her protection had been hurt, Anastasia lashes out at the other nephilim. Seeing them too far gone, she decides to kill them - gaining the edge over them by using her fully angelic form and weapon, where they refused to. In doing so, she becomes tainted - now becoming a fallen half-angel, over the tainting of her faith and how she attacked another holy being. And while not everyone is killed, she decides to leave the village, ending her relationship with Arterius, and return home. Now discarding her church mantle, to ask her parents why she and others like her are killing innocents.

✦ Her journey back is wrought with attacks by titanspawn, the influence of the titans escaping their prison spreading. It's in dealing with these titanspawn that she meets Sonali Vyas and Ran Xing Lian, two figures who become greatly important to her. Together, they return to Anastasia's home village - only to find her mother dead. Yet she has no time to mourn, as her Father is quick to appear before her, scolding Anastasia for being a failure and that her mother was useless if she couldn't raise an ideal child.

✦ It's here when her Father reveals the truth - that the birth of the nephilim has two purposes; to remove any obstacles in their Lord YHWH's way, innocent or not - and to act as a vessel for their weakened, dying god. Decreeing that he can just birth more like her, her Father vanishes - with Anastasia outraged, deciding that she will kill her father and YHWH, so that no more nephilim like her will be born and other villages like the one that saved her won't be destroyed. Sonali, being a demigod, advises they can journey to the 'overworld' where gods retreat to. This brings the first hint that not all seems to be as myths and stories says, as the angels YHWH created are placed into a pocket dimension of their own creation. There is no heaven or hell, just realms where entities are trapped or where they go back to.

✦ The journey to the 'overworld' is wrought by attacks from titanspawn, as the titans soon wage war once more on the various gods. During their travels they have a chance encounter with one of Anastasia's siblings who has sealed his abilities, Lewis, who opts to travel with them rather than reign in his wayward sibling as ordered by the church. Anastasia is simply glad to be with a sibling who doesn't become warped due to their heritage.

✦ In trying to make their way to the 'overworld', they encounter one of the Grigori Avatars. They force it into giving them information, by making it so a titanspawn attacks them and they have to defend themselves, breaking their rule of neutrality. From here, they learn the origin of Ran's spear, and that there is far more to their world and universe that they ever knew. Thanks to this encounter, the hierarchy of angels start to take notice of the group - specifically those that ignored the while... thing with Ana and Lewis' father, Dumah. One certain angel, Phanuel, takes an interest in their goals and defects to aid the group - too bad him and Ana do not get along in the slightest, and the others have to break up their fights frequently.
